On a ukulele, the G string is closest to you. It would also be called the fourth string.

Where are the Sharps?
For the sake of this explanation of the notes on a ukulele neck, I did not include the sharps. Sharps and flats are essentially the same thing:
Gb = F#
Ab = G#
Eb = D#
Db = C#
